The most common question we get at The Lyric is “How does this work?” I figure this is because we have a cafe as well as a theater. Kinda throws people for a loop. Well, the way it works is the cafe is a cafe, we serve food, drinks and a nice atmosphere to hang out in, but, in addition, you can treat it as if it were a movie theater concessions stand and buy what you want and head into one of the theaters. It’s kind of the best of both worlds. If you don’t have 2 hours to commit to a movie, you don’t have to, if you do and want to see something with a beer and a dolma in your hand, then go right ahead.
Instead of serving full meals that stuff you to the brim, we serve more appetizers and finger foods which is modeled after Spanish Tapas bars. The idea is that for dinner you hop from place to place ordering appetizers (i.e. olives, cheese, bruschetta etc.) and socialize with your local community while doing so. This is pretty common in Europe and we find it a great community practice that could, perhaps, be built upon.
We’re pretty easy. If you like something we serve, let us know so we can try to make it better. If you want us to serve something that’s relatively easy to prepare, let us know and we will see if it’s feasible. If you don’t like something we serve, just keep it to yourself nobody likes a Negative Nelly.
One thing we do have to stress is that our food isn’t kept in a box ready to serve. We need some time to prepare our food. So, if you are thinking about attending a movie and ordering food, it would be wise to show up early if you don’t want to miss the beginning.
